Our current horses (bloodlines) have been the easiest that we have ever trained.  They are all so willing and have tons of natural ability.  Amazingly, almost every horse that we have hauled from our ranch has won a check on thier first outting!

Our horses stand quietly in the arena and/or in crowd of other horses, waiting patiently for their turn to run.  The best thing about these particular animals is thier versatility!!!  They are so intelligent and seem happy to be working. Not only are they great barrel horses (or prospects), they will also REALLY watch cattle and most have been in the roping pen as well.

We do not use the term "broodmare" around here as ALL of our mares are trained, hauled, entered and proven $$ winners.  We are just as proud of our mares as we are of our Stallions.  Our bloodlines include: Camp Town Boy, Mitey Jody, Jody O'Toole, Mito Commander, Sugar Bars, Easy Jet, Royal Shake Em, Streakin Six, Thermos (just to name a few and ALL ON PAPERS). All foals from the Sun Over B Ranch will be from performing parentS!

We are very active in the equine world and love to try new things. Sun Over B horses have the ability to do just about anything and we are excited to get them showing!!    We look forward to new disciplines but are also quite busy with our original events.  Our own arena has great ground and we get most of our riding done right here on the Sun Over B.  This includes plenty of trail riding to keep everybody happy and sane:) We travel all over on weekends chasing barrel races, rodeos, calf roping and horse racing events.

In 2005 we also opened our arena to the public and had FOUR very successful playday series as well as 2 Speed-Event buckle days!

Check our calendar for our 2008 schedule!

WHO ARE WE??

 Image

Texas born and raised, Tom Boland,  was a pro bullrider until an injury forced him into an early retirement and also onto the back of a team roping horse!!  He has competed on several different mounts as a heeler.  He currently has a full time job in San Antonio & Seguin, but trains in the evenings and weekends in Flatonia.  He also has access to several Texas ranches for hunting and would love to help you schedule your dream-hunt!

Summer Boland is a Montana native and has been competing in the arena for years including Junior, Highschool, and College rodeo (while majoring in Equine Studies).  She is also a Certified Equine Appraiser and has successfully completed a horseshoeing course at Texas Horseshoeing School and has been  building a thriving farrier business for over 3 years now!

An Old Farmer's Advice:

* Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight, and bull-strong.

* Keep skunks and bankers and lawyers at a distance.

* Life is simpler when you plow around the stump.

* A bumble bee is considerably faster than a John Deere tractor.

* Words that soak into your ears are whispered...not yelled.

* Meanness don't jes' happen overnight.

* Forgive your enemies.? It messes up their heads.

* Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you.

* It don't take a very big person to carry a grudge.

* You cannot unsay a cruel word.

* Every path has a few puddles.

* When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.

* The best sermons are lived, not preached.

* Most of the stuff people worry about ain't never gonna happen, anyway.

* Don't judge folks by their relatives.

* Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.

* Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll enjoy it a second time.

* Don't interfere with somethin' that ain't botherin' you none.

* Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.

* If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin'.

* Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got.

* The biggest troublemaker you'll probably ever have to deal with, watches you from the mirror every mornin'."

* Always drink upstream from the herd.

* Good judgment comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from bad judgment.

* Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin' it back in.

* If you get to thinkin' you're a person of some influence, try orderin' somebody else's dog around.

* Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.
